Tastings at Great Wine Buys

 

Whether you’re new to the joys of wine or a long-time aficionado, Great Wine Buys has tastings on Friday nights from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Friday Tastings

Enjoy a themed flight of five top-notch wines, served with fine cheeses and artisan breads. No reservations required, just come on by!

January 6
No Tasting.

January 13
It's still sausages and sauerkraut weather and we've just the wines: German Riesling from JJ Prum, Fritz Haag, Monchhof and more. Kabinett to Auslese, plenty to like in this line-up. $14

January 20
2009 Oregon Pinot Noir. A well-endowed vintage that's drinking great already. Shea Wine Cellars, J. Christopher, Soter, Thomas and an older vintage for the bonus. $17

January 27
Guigal Côte Rôtie vs. Hermitage mini-veritical/horizontal. 1995, 1997, 2000. $30. See Events for more details.

February 3
No Tasting.

February 10
Rioja over a decade: Modern & traditional, 2007 to 1996. $15

February 17
Port & Madeira Primer. We'll taste a range including Vintage, 10 year Tawny, & LBV as well as Bual & Malmsey Madeira. $15

February 24
Washington Syrah big guns: Betz, Owen Roe Chapel Block, and more. $20. Cayuse as bonus pour.

January 7
Santa brought us many new Côtes du Rhône reds to drink.. Let's play.

January 14
We're going Down Under for some sunny and fun Aussie wines. A bit of Shiraz, Cab and maybe a blend or two to spice up the winter blues.

Spencer Sievers, the poster-boy for friendly fun-loving winemakers, wants to pour you his goods, the immensely popular El Corazon Cab Franc, Malbec, and Syrah.

January 28
Patrick McElligott pours northwest Sineann: Pinot Noir, lusty red blends and the legendary Old Vine Zinfandel.

February 4
Sake 101 with Chris Kinney. Put the grape juice down for a day and come learn your nigori from your namazake. See Events for more details.
